Sounds like Goldfinches to me but open to other suggestions.

Incidentally, it's always helpful when trying to ID something to give some indication of the habitat

Taken on board, I live on farmland just outside Dorchester, it's also meadowland, well established trees and hedgerows, the sound of the bird(s) was coming from a small row of 25ft conifers..
it does sound like Goldfinch though..

Sounds like a goldfinch to me.

My aunt lives in the country and unlike me she gets greenfinches all the time in her garden. That is a greenfinch all day long.
