Which seal? And which gull????

For me, the long profile of the head suggests the seal is Grey, but let's wait for other opinions too.
It's not possible to expand your photos for some reason, which makes the gull difficult for me. It certainly doesn't have the white wedge on the leading edge of the wing of a BHG so it might well be a young Med.

I would say Grey seal (have a look here) and I would also be tempted to agree with Med Gull (moulting to 2nd winter plumage ..... maybe).!! :-)

Also, I know you like your Gulls, so I can happily recommend this book here. Not the cheapest, but a fantastic and really informative book to have in your collection. :-)

Thanks, both. I did heavily crop the photos before posting them (the gull was a long way off) so perhaps that's why they won't enlarge.

Mrs A had been pressing some flowers and my copy was one of the books she used.
Every time I open it, it smells of plants.!! :-)

The book actually smells really nice when you open it, a sort of very faint pot pourri / flowery smell … lovely.

Being a man though, I’d prefer if it smelled of beer, or maybe engine oil ….. obviously.!!

Nice flowery smells are for girls anyway.!! :-)

Personally I'd like the book to smell like the sea.  That beats anything floral for me.
