Morning all,
We had a new visitor this morning. I think it's either a british pied wagtail, or a European white wag tail.
Can anyone clarify?
Thanks
It is a lovely Wagtail, which I do not know, sorry!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I think it's a British pied wagtail - I see them quite frequently around here. Lovely photos of a beautiful bird!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
My husband recently snapped a white wagtail at Minsmere. Here's a link to the thread for comparison.
Hmmmmm.......I've come to the conclusion that there's very little difference between the two!!

A very handy tip that, S - must try and remember it! I too struggled to see the difference, especially if the pied is female and so more grey anyway.

Pied wagtail. There is a good guide to distinguish between them here: www.the-soc.org.uk/.../white-wagtail-id.pdf
