Saw this in my garden today - greenfinch size & sounded like greenfinch, but look !!!!

Although yellow Greenfinches do occur (in captivity at least) I think this is a domestic Canary. Head and bill proportionately too small and tail too long for Greenfinch. The standard Canary call is quite wheezy and Greenfinch-like :)

Thanks - canary never occured to me in this setting, but have looked at a few images & it seems very probable. Will look a bit further, but am sure you're right !!
