Hi Richard
This is a tricky one.
To me the beak looks slightly wrong for a warbler, more like a spotted flycatcher, but it might just be the angle it was taken.
Seymour or Buzzard will know, so I hope they come along and see your thread.
Best wishes Chris

Looks like a young Pied Wagtail fledgling to me - pattern looks right for a juv and age plus foreshortening = short-looking tail. Its visible gape flanges show it has only recently left the nest. You can already see its very long tertial feathers (a good clue for all larks, pipits and wagtails).

aiki is on the money. A juvenile Pied Wagtail.
This link will give you a detailed comprehensive look at ways to age them.

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Hi Richard,
I wouldn't even try to answer your question, but Buzzard and Aiki are experts and I'm sure Seymour and others will appear before long with their comments. However, lovely picture, whatever it is!
Cheers, Linda.

Many thanks all :-)
I wasn't sure which one it was :-?
I spotted it on the bridge across the road at Welney WWT a month ago during the same week the Blue Troat was spotted. That I didn't spot :-(
Cheers
Richard
