They look like some sort of turkey with webbed feet. This pair were living on a lagoon separated from the sea by a strip of scrub and pebbled beach. This is a National Trust reserve in Anglesey where they were providing breeding areas for sea birds. Their companions were the usual array of mallards and hybrids plus a mute swan who was very bad tempered. The sea birds were at the other end of the lagoon. They were huge birds and tame.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow
Wecome back from your holiday. I've just returned myself from a trip to Sicily.
I'm pretty sure the ducks in question are Muscovy Ducks.
Regards TJ

Hi Sparrow,
These are Muscovy Ducks Cairina moschata; a common domestic species, originating from the Americas.
MC:-)
Thanks Micky and TJ.
I have heard of Muscovy Ducks but have never seen one before.
Thanks for the welcome back, and I hope you (TJ) enjoyed your trip as much as I did.
