......all of these!
My first thought was goldfinch but I'm not sure if the face markings are right.
Oystercatcher, young herring gull - but what's that on the right? I didn't even see it until I uploaded the photo!
This doesn't look quite right for a sparrow.
Any help most gratefully received!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I think the first one is a Linnet, Clare. What are those massive structures in the background? Something to do with the container port?
Can't make out No 2 at all.
No 3 with its very fine bill could be a Meadow Pipit but can't see it clearly enough to be sure.
Hopefully, aiki or someone will do better.

Thanks, TeeJay. You are seeing some of the port's cranes in the background - they are enormous things!
It's entirely typical of me to get lousy snaps of birds I can't identify. Sorry about that.
Hi Clare, I agree with Teejay on 1 and 3. As for 2, I'm not even sure which way it's facing!

Having looked at it again I'm just wondering whether it might be a full frontal view of a Common Sandpiper. They are surprisingly small birds and do have that upper breast shading. I looked though my photos to see if I could find a similar view of one. This was the best I could come up with.
On the other hand it could be something completely different. LOL
Agree with 1 as Linnet, think Tony might be on to something with Common Sand, and could 3 be a Wheatear?
