I have this bird marked down as a 'whitethroat' but never feel sure that it is correct ~ so I thought I might get some thoughts or a confirmation from you 'wise ones'.
I took it on the 29th May 2009. I was walking on the North Cornwall coastal path round Dodman Point, south of Gorran Haven. There was a big drop into the sea one side of me and a gorse hedge the other with fields behind, very windy and bleak.
This little bird was singing its heart out! All comments really appreciated,

Suggestions seemed to range from willow warbler through chiffchaff to lesser whitethroat. Not sure if anybody will be able to improve on that.

But yes, you are right nobody came up with an answer that really held! So I thought somebody new would spot it and recognise it.

Unfortunately not! I took a few pics but this was the best of the bunch. The problem was that the bird was at the back of the gorse hedge and I could not get a side shot of it.
It maybe I have to forget this one unless I find an 'Oddy' or 'Packham', no offense to the crew but it is a bit lacking in info.

I looked through the list of Willow Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat and Chiffchaff and having just had a session with some Willow Warblers feel that is off the list! Leaves the Chiffchaff and Lesser Whitethroat ~ at the moment I have it listed under lesser whitethroat, so in the lack of some real confident suggestions I guess that ids where it stays.

this photo is still posing some problems. Again I have altered the exposure and cropped it slightly, but still not happy with the final picture.
I have even resorted to digging some bird books out, to cross reference my old grey matter!
I still see a yellow tinge in this bird and in my opinion I don't see Whitethroat. I can't get a good enough sharp, clear picture of the head on my PC even using all of the software!
As you have mentioned the may be some new members with far more experience than those of us who tried last time.

HI Buzzard ~ there is definitely a yellow tinge in there and the head has a brown cap coming well down the neck almost like a sun shield. I have checked and there are no more pics on this one.
I guess without more pics they may not be an answer - unless that Oddie or Packman spot my plight!
