Hi guys
Over in the field today I took a few shots of this raptor, thinking it was a Buzzard.
Now I've blown it up I don't think it is. Anyone know it's correct identity?
Best wishes Chris

Hi all
Thanks guys (and girls) for your incredibly quick replies and your encouraging words.
I have done absolutely nothing to that pic yet apart from crop it. If I can work out how to maybe get it a tiny tad sharper then I will see if I can.
Now I've had something to look in my book for, it does look like a male kestrel.
I'm glad I went out and took some pictures now. :-)
Brilliant picture Chris. I've still never seen a kestrel, nor a buzzard for that matter.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow
Thank you. It was just sheer luck, because it wasn't hovering!
Is this better?
Sparrow you need to come up to the Northeast of Scotland Theres more of them here than ye can point a camrea at lol
beautiful birds
Sparrow
It's possible that you might have seen one hovering near a motorway while you were driving.
Great picture - you did really well to capture him in mid flight. They are one of my favourite birds of prey - not so "murderouus" as sparrowhawks !
