Yups with gingery and buff scalloped feather edgings,  a strong supercilium, curved medium length bill, greenish legs , well marked breast streaks and white back stripes it has to be a juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper.

Taken at Titchwell from the main footpath one autumn.

    :)

    Well done Lori SB

Second post and first correct reply

At least Sandpiper was thr right path so that is something.

It was the 'prominant' stripe through that eye that was very pronounced and not many similar looking waders have that feature at all.must look out for this species of bird on my next visit to Titchwell Reserve

    Regards

  • Thanks Kathy.  It was the white back stripes that gave it to me as not many have that.  I am not very good at wader IDs really as Wiltshire is landlocked and I have only recently started to visit coastal reserves!  I am geting better slowly though and can ID quite a few now without resorting the field guide.  That's where a camera comes in handy.  if I can't ID in the field I can sit in the comfort of my living room and ID from a photo :-)
