Hi guys
This just landed on my sunflower seed mixture. It seems a much duller greeny brown colour than my regular siskins.
Is it a juvy or female siskin?
Sorry about the poor pics, but it wouldn't turn around, and it's a very dull day here.
Best wishes Chris

You, madam, are just getting plain greedy!!!!!!! [hug]
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Yellowhammer!
Coal
Birding , Birding, Birding !
Or probably Siskin.
Wow! Fabulous photos everyone - and when I can see Sarah's I will doubtless be saying the same about hers but for the moment you will have to pretend I can see that set!!!!!

I have tried uploading the pics again to see if they stay this time. Fingers crossed

Hi Sarah, got them this time. That is an incredible number of siskins - I am lucky to see one or two. And I was right - your photos are brilliant!!! Well done.
Wow Bramble, what a lot of siskins in your mum's garden! Does she get this many all the time, or was it a one off? Brilliant photos.
Cheers, Linda.

In 2004 some siskins discovered the niger seed I'd started putting out - and the numbers gradually increased until there were 72. I assumed that they would be back the next year - but we didn't see a single one. Then in 2006 they were back, totalling 96 altogether!!!!!! In 2007 the most we had was two - so I hoped perhaps they were only visiting much in even numbered years - but this year we've only seen one (on a few occasions).

Bramble - lovely to see your Mum's siskins, I still haven't seen any at home yet but I did see two on a feeder at Blashford Lakes reserve yesterday in the Woodland hide. The number of bramblings more than made up for it though as there were about 30 of them!
Elibee - Wow! That's fantastic to see so many at once. Lucky you.
There is something new to learn everyday...

Wow Elibee, that is a lot of siskin. I know when we lived on the coast, we were on their route and we would have an invasion for a few weeks. As one lot left, the next group would arrive, but I can't remember seeing that many in one go. I think about 40 was our biggest count in one visit and I used to find that very noisy. We have never seen such numbers in this house.
