Hi, I have a bird table and various hangers and trays full of seeds, suet, dried fruit, scraps and cheese. I attract a variety of birds - jays, magpies, woodpigeons, doves, pheasants, blackcaps, blue tits, great tits, long tailed tits, blackbirds, robins, wagtails, grey wagtails but no finches of any discription? Could anyone suggest what food they like that might tempt them to the table? Many thanks :)
Just seen this thread again and I see I posted back in 2012 that I could only get 1 or 2 Goldfinch into the garden! Hard to believe that now as I now get upwards of 50 at peak times (around December - February when presumably other food is more scarce). Numbers start to tail off a bit but there are always Goldfinch on the feeders whatever time of year - and it is most definitely the sunflower hearts they go for! They will come to you eventually.
