I dont have a photo because by the time i realised i wasnt sure what it was it was gone
A bird somewhat resembling a long tailed tit in size and shape (may have been slightly on the larger size though) visited our feeders
However the markings seemed so much more striking, and it also had reddish brown bars over its eyes (think male house sparrow but more brown than red)
Ive done a bit of searching but found nothing
Wondering if it was just a genetic mutation (we get various birds, mostly tits, with a high expression of a melanin mutation or leucistic mutations) the thing that makes me think it unlikely to be that was how crisp the markings were
Other than the face and neck markings im fairly sure the rest matched a long-tailed tit
Have you looked at pictures of juvenile Long tailed Tits - they are marked differently to their parents.
Yesterday i thought the brown on the face seemd too vibrant and distinct, and because it was solo there was no way it could be
now having slept on it, im rolling my eyes at myself a little, it couldnt have been anything but a jouvenile
Thank-you
