as you can see from the picture this is the location of my bird feeder, there is a wide offering, from peanuts, mixed seed, fat balls, sunflower seeds and suet cakes. However one thing I’ve noticed is I’m only seeing to get Starlings a lot of the time, but I’m not getting much joy in and small birds! Just curious if I should move the table closer up to the house or just wait and see what next year brings. I’ve had the feeder since May, and as I say starlings are really the only source that I’ve seen.
the feeding table sits about 6ft from the fence, the garden is not well shrubbed and there isn’t many trees. Just wondering if anyone has any advice
Hi Luke, welcome to the forum ... small birds do like the cover of tall shrubs & trees fairly near to the feeder so that they can dot to & fro to feel safe so if possible you should add some, a good start would be to have Pyracantha and Buddleia as they can grow to a good height ... unless it's an optical illusion, your feeding station looks very close to the fence, this is not such a good idea as cats could pounce and scare the birds! It does take quite a while for birds to discover a feeder, are there many other folk feeding birds in your area! Please wait for the ideas of others too!

Hi Wendy thanks for your reply, I am going to move my table to a more centralised spot on my lawn hope this helps and yes Buddleia I know where I can get that from. Thanks for your advice
Do let us know how you get on Luke, am sure we can recommend some more plants for your garden which will help the birds!
It’s crazy what a difference on location makes, I managed to get some Buddleia and Pysocarpus magic ball.

Hey Luke, that's good news :o) The addition of water would also encourage birds, be it a bird bath/fountainy thing, or just a shallow dish replenished with fresh water daily
