Hello everyone!
Having a free morning and hearing a Robin in a garden further up the street, I decided to get in the kitchen and make some spaghetti for birds in hopes of finally getting a Robin in my garden for more than a day!
The basic ingredients are pretty standard: I take 3/4 lard that I get from a local butcher and 1/4 flour. Then I crush some peanuts (for the first time available to me!), some sunflower hearts, a bit of walnuts from my vineyard and some hazelnuts into dust. I added some water and mixed it with lard. Once I get one big lump of pastry, I throw it into a meat-grinding machine with a special add-on so I get nice long spaghetti. I put them in my attic overnight so they harden a bit and don't stick together when I store them in the bag/can/pot/whatever. This way you can also crumble them into pellets before serving to the birds.

Very inventive Lanius .. a new twist on the pastry many of us make for our pampered birds ... bet yours love it!
Wonder if it would squeeze successfully through potato ricer ( not having meat grinder any more!). Would have to whizz nuts to dust though!

Great idea. I have an old style meat mincer. I will try that with my pastry.

Another great idea for feeding the birds, I used to have the old style meat mincer like MC but no more, they will have to make do here with pastry balls etc stuck on the branches of trees.

That looks a great that for thirds Lanius, I do make pastry for them but have no means to make the spaghetti
