Hi John, although you want a hanging type feeder guardian, have you thought about a guardian cage which could fit over a bird feeding table ? Take a look at this one We have squirrels and wood pigeons here and I use guardian cages like the pitched roof one you see on the link I provided although I place mine on the grass, pegged down and put a ground feeder tray in side which I can remove each night for storage. Not sure if it is possible to add a seed catcher to the bottom of a feeder which is protected by guardian but maybe you can. Good luck and hope you find a suitable cage.

John- have a look for a 'squirrel blocking cage'...I use several of these, and I wire a round mesh tray inside the bottom half. If you use a hanging seed or fatball feeder inside, then the tray will catch any food that falls out. Plus, it has the advantage that you can put mealworms or similar inside the tray itself. I use a long-handled spoon to do this to reach through the bars, so that I don't have to take the cage apart every time. Good luck with it!
Thanks for the replies, I suspect the handmade solution from elnor would give me what I want. Just surprised there isn't something on the market that does what I want!
Hi John - think this may be more what you're looking for- Chapelwood gaurdians, they come apart and then clip together in the centre and are designed to be used over feeders. I used to use them over a small 2 port feeder with a tray attached to it like the one below. I've switched to different feeders now,but these were very effective

and this small feeder and A tray (you could easily use other feeders/ trays on the market of this size though)

Hope this is helpful
Good luck , Jayne
