How can I make my garden more bird friendly?

Hello All, This is my first post! About a month ago I moved house to a small town and we have a rear garden that is about 5m x 7m. It has borders with some established bushes and, unfortunately, an AstroTurf lawn... I've put a garden feeder in the corner with three hanging feeders. One has Niger seeds, one has a seed mix and the other has mealworms. Despite hearing robins, blue tits, goldfinches, my only visitors are wood pigeons and magpies (who smash into the mealworms feeder knocking them to the ground!). Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can attract smaller birds? Many thanks, Darren.
