Thought you might all like to know Wilkinsons are selling 2 x 100gms of dried mealworms for £4. Best price I have seen.
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
It is very confusing. The ones I get from on-line are £20 for 1k, which seems to be the same price as Wilkinsons if my maths are right.
Cheers, Linda.

i paid £14.99 for 400 gms. which means £3.75 for 100gms. Do any of you know if there is any difference in size/ quality. It is just that I once bought some, where the price was lowered and the birds wouldn't touch them. They may have become stale. We don't have a Wilkinsons here.
Hi Brenda,
The ones I get from http://www.streetendfeeds.co.uk/ go down very quickly with my gang. Too quickly. They seem to be good quality, although I haven't tried them personally. LOL. I have been using them since before Christmas without a problem. I am impressed with everything I have ordered from there so far, and it has always arrived the following day providing it is ordered before 10am.
I agree with Sparrow. Have used this company before - top quality made in the UK so to speakOften foreign ones are sold and are not as fresh or have additives and there new size is a cracking buy, as cheap as Wilkos.
Thanks Sparrow, I will have a look. I thought you were going to say I should try them with some ketchup or chips.

My starlings regularly have to do that too.
They are currently getting crushed RSPB buggy suet balls, because a) they were (and still are) on offer for half price and b) despite them containing high quality ingredients (no sand to bulk them up) they aren't as hard as some others I have used and so they fall apart when they are rained on.
Best wishes Chris

Hi All
I don't know if anyone is interested but I buy my live mealworms from ebay. I usually use theroachfarm they are very reliable and the worms arrive the next day and are very healthy. I notice that they have put the price up a little to £28.20 for 2kg (a heck of a lot of worms and lasts ages if you keep them cool) but another site has just started up reptile-foods-direct so don't know what they are like but are offering 2kg for £25.99 both are free p&p. both have 100% feedback
Hope this helps.
You have no control over what life & people throw at you - but you have full control over how you deal with it!
Hi Chez
I think we were talking about dried mealworms
I have tried live ones but a) I don't like handling them and b) OH isn't particularly impressed to see them in the fridge when he's looking for something.
I might try them again when fledglings are likely to be feeding.
I have slight concerns that RSPB Peck n' Mix (Dried mealworms, suet pellets and raisins) contains dried mealworms that I can't really soak before using because it comes as a prepared mixture of ingredients.
Hi everyone,
I ordered some dried mealworms from the chap on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Premium-Dried-Mealworms-2-kg_W0QQitemZ270441211741QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Birds?hash=item3ef78d675d
They arrived 2 days later, well packed and perfect. I bought 2 kilos for £17 plus £6.90 postage. This is by far the cheapest I have found anywhere - half what I paid at Street End Foods. They appear to be good quality and the birds are loving them. The postage is outrageous, but even with that they are half the price.
Hi Chris,
You can make up your own mix of mealworms, suet pellets and raisins. That's what I do.

Hi Linda
Thanks for the tip about dried mealworms on eBay. I will go and have a look. If I bought from them I would be leaving bad detailed seller ratings because of the outrageous P&P as it's fee circumvention and isn't allowed, but that's another story.
I do make up my own mix of suet pellets, mealworms & raisins, but I make it up as a dry mix, so the mealworms aren't soaked. I don't know if this will be a problem for baby birds or not.
