I would like to make several birdseed cakes. Obviously, I can not use fondant. But what would be similar to make a very safe and pliable type of bird play-doh that is safe for birds to eat? I would like to make tiny shapes from silicone molds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What could have been used (as seen in the photos) that would be safe for birds to eat?
I think these are adorable, but I want them to be safely ingested. Thank you!

If you want the birds to be able to eat and digest food safely, then the best way is to just feed them proper bird food, using proper bird feeders from trusted suppliers, like the RSPB and other nature conservation organisations.
As for whether its decorative or not, they're not interested, they just want to eat natural foods and safely, away from the risk of predation.

You could make them from a basic pastry of solid fats (lard) and flour but I am not entirely convinced that food colourant is the best idea for birds - they are not exactly good of us so I imagine a birds kidney's might have difficulty in dealing with them so as Mike suggests stick to good natural food - the birds don't care that its not decorated

You are absolutely correct, their health and safety is top priority. I just thought they would make lovely gifts to give to friends and family.
Thank you.

You're welcome.
It can be very hard at times to visualise things from a wildlife perspective vs what appeals to our eyes.
