I feed a family of swans every day at a fishing lake near where I live, after 2 instances of grabbing cygnets to remove fishing wire that they'd swallowed the swans stopped coming out of the water to me, however they will come up to the waters edge and wait for me to come to them, I always do which is fine for me as I can still feed then and reach them when I've needed to remove further wire
They still have a lot of trust in me as they'll gather up at the waters edge excitedly every morning waiting for their food and eat out of my hand, so I'm wondering if the reason they still won't come out of the water months later is because I'm encouraging it by walking straight up to the edge and sitting with them while feeding or is it because of having to handle them to remove the line?
