Is it possible to stop a Magpie building a nest ? we wanted to have our tree cut back but as there was a Maggie nest in the tree we were told we would have to leave it till next year!
Magpies only breed once per season ...

With regard to other birds which may nest more frequently their season is usually over by late September except for pigeons and doves which can breed more or less continuously! It is usually considered safe to cut back trees and hedges safely in October time!

Thanks for replying, the tree in question is a cherry blossom and according to the landscaper it is best to cut it back during the spring so is it possible for me to stop magpies from building a nest?
