Hello,
This is my first year with a camera in my birdbox and I am obsessed! Our BT couple started building their nest back in early March, then we thought it had been abandoned because they disappeared for nearly 3 weeks mid nest building, but they returned and now the nest is practically finished and the female sometimes spends the night in there, but she hasn't laid any eggs yet. Is this normal behaviour?
Here is a link for you, which will help re blue tits nesting. Hopefully you will have babies

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
If the nest hasn't been finished, or isn't going to be used, it could be a male roosting. However, depending where you are (presumably UK?), we did have a cold spell until recently, where any pair that hadn't laid may have put on hold breeding attempts.
Hi, fascinating to watch the process isn't it I was hooked when we had one. From watching ours, roosting in the nest box overnight while the nest is still being built is completely normal. Ours used to do that for some time before the nest wasompleted. Maybe she wants to make sure no one else takes it while they aren't there. Either that or she wants to get an early start on the housekeeping the next day lol Ours seemed to have a patch wre not much activity was happening too. I think it depends on the weather a bit. They don't seem to do much in the rain. I think they are too busy just trying to keep themselves going. Hope the nests successful
