Will the roosting birds be safe or will they hop off to safety? We have lots of hedges, much is left & I do cut lots hand but there is also quite a large amount that is done by tractor flail. I instinctively feel that it's really bad to do after dark but I'm having trouble persuading the contractor to come during daylight. Am I worrying too much?
Ok thanks. I don't know the set up there, but if it were me, if I got a quote from someone to prune our horse chestnut back again, and they only wanted to do it on their terms, I'd get someone else to quote. I appreciate that might not fit your circumstance e.g. relative, small close knit community etc, but service sector need to provide a service customers want, not customers fitting in with what service sector want.
At this time of year, I'd have thought it would cause disturbance, but I don't think birds would get killed by the hedge trimmer. There might be squashed amphibians though, under the wheels as they become active.....
