There are a variety of Blue, Great and Coal Tits who visit our garden along with the occasional visiting gang of long-tailed tits.
The Blue Tits are residents - visible all day, every day. The gang of Long Tails fly in, eat as much as possible, and disappear for a week or two without looking back.
My question is: the Great Tits and Coal Tits seem to be on an every-other-day schedule. One day they’re there, the next day nowhere to be seen… what’s this about? Are they food hoarders, taking enough for 48 hours rather than five minutes? Or are mine just a bit quirky or “seeing other gardens” <gasp!>
