Many thanks for that picture of your unusual visitor ... Google Lens identifies it as American Goldfinch ... if so then it could be an escapee ... please wait for more expert opinions on this!

The American Goldfinch is black from the bill up and onto the forehead,
The bird in the photo is dark from the bill down, but not black like the AG.

Thanks Richard, any other ideas?

I was thinking a Canary of some sort, then maybe a commoner British bird that has coloured differently.
Not really sure on this one.
