I have a blackbird nest in my shed. It has only ever been the male that sits on it. Occasionally he leaves for a short while but I have never seen the female. Is this usual?

It is unusual, it normally would be the female that sits in the nest and on eggs and the male wil bring in the food

Thank you but I now think our bird is a Ring Ouzel as it has some white plumage under the beak. Could this be a possibility in Norfolk?
