Hi all,
This is my first post. I am a wannabe twitcher, but no where close to assigning myself that label just yet!
I live two miles from Bradford city centre. I am housebound, so do not get to go out and enjoy our glorious wildlife. However, I do get a really lovely dawn chorus. I would truly love to be able to identify the birdsong that I hear, but I have no idea where to start. I know there are websites with birdsong identification, but by the time I've found a good website and found what I'm looking for, the birds have long since found their silence.
So, this morning I have recorded 20 seconds of dawn chorus in a voice note. I would really love it if someone here could identify what birds it is that I can hear so spectacularly every morning. (Turn volume up loud)
Thank you in advance! 5611.dawn chorus.m4a
Il note the main ones for now. Blackbird and if you listen very carefully Woodpigeon. If you can’t go out you could listen to calls of our common birds first then you could try watching or listening for any birds from inside from out the window. Over time you will eventually learn them and learn what birds are in your area then you can recognise them without having to look them up when they call. You could also buy RSPB guide to bird song book it goes through birds and bird calls and has a cd that might help cause it has bird calls on it and then you can refer to the book aswell until you get the hang of our common birds some like Robin, Woodpigeon and Blackbird and house sparrow might be good places to start.
