Hi all
At first I thought this was a stonechat but the tail and upper tail pattern/colouring is distinctive and doesn't seem to match any images of the stonechat that I have seen (in particular, the white at the end of the tail, and the fact that the head and nape are not streaked). This was seen at Steart Marshes on 25 September.
Any ideas (sorry, focussing on the fence post without the bird on wasn't ideal)?
Russell
It looks like a wheatear to me Russell, but I would wait for others to answer as I have been wrong before.
A couple of stonechats I took the other day
