There is a collared dove chick that is in a nest on our security light, it’s on it’s own, the parents haven’t been to it all day or night. I’m guessing it’s about 7-10days old and is standing up in the nest. I’m concerned they have abandoned it, as before they would be here all the time. What do you suggest? Thanks
Nothing, that might seem harsh, but that is the law, as per the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The only exceptions are those authorised by licence to undertake necessary tasks as required, and even then, that is kept to a minimum.
Nature left to its own devices will sort out what it needs to do, and is very good at it.
Are you sure the chick has been abandoned, it may be the parents are cautious of returning to the nest while people or animals, like dogs and cats, are around.
