Duck in Thames - identification

Very odd-looking bird - the beak appears very dark in one image but has an orangey tint in another.

It's feather structure is obviously been altered due to being wet - and it looks like it either has a form of leucism or is a juvenile bird.

It's behaviour and build - and also the most common answer - would suggest Cormorant.

I dont have a clue (nothing new there then Linda lol) but I have it on good authority that its a juvenile Guillemot ;-)

That's a good shout Linda and I can see that possibility in the second photo - I just can't find an example of one with the white patch behind the nape as on the first photo.

And the body seems large compared to the head in the first photo - but that could just be angles.

If not the most common answer then possibly a Guillemot with leucism?

Thanks for the replies. Cormorant sounds likely but I'm pretty sure it's a black beak (sorry photos really aren't great.)

Also I'm not sure if it has a short or long neck. Seems short but can't be sure.

It was just letting the river current take it. It was repeatedly washed up against the embankment. Perhaps it wasn't in greatest health.

I have gone back to the photos a few times and I'm still baffled but maybe Cormorant is the mist likely
