This bird has sat on this nest for a week now with no sign of a partner.
Should her partner be feeding her?
Can I do anything if he has been hit by a car maybe.
While it is possible something may have happened to the collared dove partner, there really isn't anything you can do. Whatever you feel, you MUST NOT approach the nest. Apart from the fact its illegal as per the Countryside and Wildlife Act 1981, any approaches could mean the current collared dove will feel threatened and abort the nest.
It is possible the partner has been visiting while you've not been looking. There should be a plentiful supply of food, or they nest would not have been set up, and it may seem harsh, just let nature take its course.

Thanks Pete.
I understand that many people like Jeanne, will want to do their best and help nature along, and all is done with good intentions.
