Hi,
Just noticed blue-tits making a home in an old nest box on our wall. I’m a little concerned that the box is facing south west. Is that going to be ok for them?
Many thanks ️
Hello Ali, a box should face N / NW for spring nesting, so the box will not overheat in the sun. Just now, the birds will be using the box for roosting in at night. They will keep our and warm inside from the wind, rain, snow outside. I can't see a problem for roosting but before next year's nesting starts, move the box to a suitable direction.
