Blue Tits

Hi all.  My nest box i put up last summer was finally occupied by a pair of Blue Tits this summer. I’ve closely watched them painstakingly build their nest. Then watched the male constantly take the female food as she was sitting on nest. Then in the last week I’ve noticed no sign of either bird. So this morning i opened up the front panel of the nest box (screwed on and only removable with a drill) only to find the perfectly made nest empty. No sign of anything being laid. Bearing in mind the male constantly took food to the female for about a week and a half. Where are the eggs?? What happened to them if there was any? No predator could get through the hole in the box?  I live on a council estate so a snake is out of the question.  It’s doing my head in
