Just had a week holiday in Menorca - primarily to get away from the awful weather. However I did get the chance to visit one reserve, while we were there, though not with the equipment I would normally like to take. Because of luggage limitations I only had the RF 100-400 mm ens plus a 1.4 TC with debut was quite happy with some of the results, though the harsh sunlight is difficult to deal with most of the time anyway.

Great shots of the Cicada Bob. Never seen one myself. Sorry about your difficulties with bright sunshine, (envious), we have don't have that problem around here ... . Hope you had a good holiday ... .
Looks like you had a nice holiday Bob. Great set of photos.
Very nice set of images, Bob. Good to see a Booted Eagle. I remember seeing quite a few on the neighbouring island of Mallorca on a birding trip there a few yeras ago.
Incidentally, I think your "cicada" is a grasshopper. Not sure of the species but my best guess would be Egyptian Grasshopper aka Egyptian Locust (Anacridium aegyptium) but don't hold me to it.

Don't blame you getting away from this UK weather and nice to see some less familiar birds including the magnificent Booted Eagle and get a good selection of photos.

Heers TJ - you are probably right - I just overheard someone say what it was and I didn't check, just assumed a Cicada was a type of Grasshopper/Cricket looking beast. It was huge.
Not envious that you were away to the sun! Mind you on saying that we were very fortunate up here, to have 2 days of sunshine and heat, misty drizzle all day today!! Lovely photos Bob, especially love thd Osprey, a favourite, never heard of a Booted Eagle before.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Cicadas are surprisingly small considering the noise they make. The only one I've ever seen (and photographed) was in the Camargue. I would never have seen it unless someone had pointed it out.
Thanks for that - a lot different looking.
Excellent shot Teejay. Great detail ...
Nice to see you managed to get away from the cold northerly and easterly blasts and get some sunshine. Plus a nice collection of photos, always a pleasure to see.
