(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Thanks SnappyMac. Yes it’s an interesting insect I hadn’t seen before until now.
Thanks a lot Linda.
Very nice. Once saw one o our mulberry bush it looked lovely with the bright green leaves. Nice closeup shot.
A few insects from the last few days. I have still only seen butterflies on one afternoon a few weeks back, and not many birds around down the woods ...
Black Snipe Fly
Scorpion Fly
Rustic Sailor Beetle
Sawfly (Tenthredo Mesomela) - with apple green body
Two small black Beetles - there are hundreds of these around!
Apologies for any that aren't. I did my best to identify them ...
Well done BD...I am sure they look tasty to any bird
Great macro photo's BD. I like the top one, almost looks 3d

You said black but they look blue in the pic, wonder if this is it?

You could well be right Wendy. They do appear to be more blue than black - particulary when the sun catches them (which is not very often around here!). I had a bit of a search after you mentioned it, and thought it maybe an Alder Leaf Beetle. I will have a look at the leaves next time I go down the woods. It seems Blue Mint Beetles only eat Mint leaves, whereas Alder Leaf Beetles eat Alder, Hazel, Hornbeam and Apple, and do seem to have more chance of being found in Lancashire. Whatever they are, there are loads of them down my local National Trust woods. They are on almost every shrub along the sides of the path. Thanks for your help in id'ing ...
Alder leaf beetle more likely BD
A few from RSPB Sandy yesterday.
