It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

A few butterflies along the woodland edge yesterday.
Nice Mr Kes, I have not seen a Comma yet.

Yes, it's amazing how often you see things in a photo that you didn't see at the time. I would say Geometridae moth caterpillar, but useless for me to suggest an ID.
Great pictures Mr Kes.

My first blue of the year, female Holly Blue, taken at Slimbridge yesterday
Hi Wendy, the enlargement helps but I'm not too good on caterpillars, you're our resident caterpillar expert :)
Not sure what this is....
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
I would go for a Plume Moth.
Thanks BD ;-)
