It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Was about to say wot Wendy said... except, of course it wasn't lucky, it was your lepidopterists eye... but don't worry, it's not contagious lol
My first Comma this year, I think
And my 2nd about an hour later.... are the bugs pre-redness ladybirds?
Don't think they're anything to do with Ladybirds PB ... there are a few different dark shiny beetles they could be, any chance of a macro pic?
no, afraid not, was using the 180-600 for the terns..... Darkius Shinyus Beetlus it is then
I'm thinking Flea beetle with the Comma -PB

There have been lots of Alder Leaf Beetles down our local woods recently, could it be one of those? Otherwise I would go for a Darkius Shinyus Beetlus ...
