It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

These are both firsts for me to photograph. They were both together, didn't know which to photograph first

Beautiful and lucky you.
Thanks Mr Kes
Are you running a moth trap Mr Kes?
Thanks SnappyMac I’ve seen it with slightly different colouring on the heathland area at Ashdown forest.
Ha ha BD. It’s a first for me too.
Hi Wendy, no moth trap no. I wanted to some time ago but didn’t really have the money for a proper one.
Some more moth success. I believe this is the female Common Heath moth
Google seems to think this is either small yellow underwing or burnet companion. Who knows.
I was looking for box moth caterpillars and this White Ermin moth showed up. This one I took with my phone. Didn’t have camera with me.
This is the other side of the common heath moth. Female
That White Ermin looks a good one, nice set Mr Kes.
Thanks SnappyMac yes it was a nice looking little moth.
