It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Nice finds Mr Kes, I am doing hopeless this year. I did see a Holly Blue about the garden, but I didn't see it land....
Well done on capturing the Silver Y, they are so speedy, reminiscent of Hummingbird hawkmoth! Only see them still in moth traps or my lounge wall

Thanks SnappyMac. There’s still a lot of time. I am only seeing one or two of things.
Thanks Wendy. Nice to see the moths around.
Saw a couple of these yesterday afternoon in the meadow.
Mother Shipton Moth, google tells me.
Great one. Don't seem to see any on my walks. Even down the woods where I go, keep looking for moths on tree trunks, but no luck.
Nice moth Mr Kes

Same here. Very rarely see moths.
Finally managed to get a photo of one of the Holly Blue butterflies that are about the garden:
Lovely one.
