It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Things can only get better on that front. When we have some more sunny days I hope to see a lot more.
A nice fresh looking male Orange-tip:
Lovely SM
Went I. Search of orange tips and found some. Here is another male.
Very nice close up Mr Kes. I had to chase mine along a big ditch, couldn't get any closer
to see any butterfly here would be nice ..keep them coming Mr Kes
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Ditto :o(
Yes it can be a bit like that. Having watched some professional photographers online they advise staying in one spot for five minutes as the butterflies will generally move up and down and come backound. A guy called Kevin Hatley on YouTube has a good video on Photographing butterflies. Just a thought.
Thanks Linda will keep them coming.
Great photos Mr Kes. Not seen one of those here yet. But yesterday, two red admirals, a peacock. and a speckled wood. Was the first sunny day in more than a week.
