It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Great to see your moths H ... Spindle smudge is a new one for me, fascinating name! Btw, found the source of my clothes moths ... a rarely used woollen blanket now sadly scrapped!

Oh dear Wendy, like mine that ate the slippers, they were bound to be living somewhere ! It was cold in bed this morning, could have done with an extra woolly blanket LOL
Been very mild here, almost too warm in bed, much less CH required, hope no nasty weather waiting to descend on us!
Well yesterday saw my first red admiral perched sunning itself in a wall and then perched on a log was this lovely Comma.
Lovely pristine specimen Mr K, eagerly awaiting for my first one here!
A good start Mr Kes I have seen 3 butterflies, not had a chance to get a photo though
Thanks Wendy. Yes it was a lovely bright one. My camera doesn’t quite give the same appearance.
A couple more chance encounters today. We had a nice sunny morning and early afternoon.
Lovely sightings Mr K, lucky you!
Still yet to see any butterflies here, even though there have been some nice sunny spells.
