Kicking off this year's odds and sods with Starlings in a rainbow on that extreme rarity: sunshine.
It was early morning, with the sun barely cresting the tree line. We were able to get out for our morning walk as it wasn't raining. This photo is my trusty Canon 80D and Sigma 18-300mm lens zoomed in at 300mm.
Pulling back a bit.
And finally all the way back.
Oh, 2024 got off to a good start with this.
So far my cat, perhaps two neighbouring cats visiting our garden, a local fox and Tawny owl, and this trap have accounted for at least five of the beasties. Sightings of rats in our garden are getting rarer, so I think I'm winning. Two rather timid and wary rats, that I know of, are proving more elusive to catch. I've resorted to buying a lethal trap. The trap was triggered, yesterday, but no rat, sadly. Though a mouse might have triggered it, and was small enough to be within the kill bar.

Very nice BD
Just been woken up by blue tits tapping on the windows! But that allowed me to see a new bird in the garden - a Blackcap. We live in Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire,
Haven’t had a chance to download photos off the camera or upload them to here. Missed an opportunity to get mum and young muntjac this morning. Shame would have been a nice shot.
Nice one Mr Kes. Everyone loves a lollypop ...
An odd photo of a Jay in the local valley today.... They spook so easy.
well done Bob, as you say the Jays spook easily; lovely looking birds but shame their sound isn't as pretty. LOL Lovely photo.

Saw some siskins yesterday unfortunately it was dull and raining and I didn’t have my camera. It was a joy to see. Then one stayed on the feeder for a while. Never seen any here before. I’m hoping they might return if word gets out to the others. I did get a few shots of other things though. pair of loved up jackdaws
Grey heron on his favourite perch.
pair of wood pigeon
Red Robin
the usual suspects
A good selection Mr Kes. I am not having any luck finding Siskin at the moment...
Lovely set of photos
The sun came out a little yesterday so I could get a few things out and about.
