Palloptera muliebris perhaps which I think is known colloquially as Looped Flutterfly. However, I'm no expert so could be wrong.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Just spent 10 mins searching before realising this had been answered ... . Never mind. I agree it's a Palloptera muliebris. I looked in the Collins Complete Guide To British Insects, which seems to have millions .. well hundreds of insects, except the one I am looking for! Then used Google Lens, which identified it ....
