During a recent holiday in Croatia I spotted this parent Hooded Crow feeding one of its young.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Clare Bailey said:Beautiful, Bob. Funnily enough a friend of mine is off to Croatia today - I'll tell him to keep his eyes open for these lovely birds.
They were all over but not as common as the Swifts

Next trip is already being planned - further north next time around the Zadar region.
Germain said:That's great to hear - I really want to go back but I think next year is a long promised trip to Norway - The Zadar area was very interesting - saw bee eaters and shrike + a myriad of insects
I like the sound of that
Germain said:Are you independent travelling? if you are up to adventuring and exploring the hamlet of Majerolo vrilo is worth a visit - the drive out has plenty to see and the watermills are interesting, crystal clear water
Yes we do. A lot depends on what we find to go see - sometimes we just use the local buses but sometimes we would hire a car and a lot would depend on how many days we spend at each location when we come up with the final plan. Ive just driven through on Gpoogle Maps and have made a note of it if we are out that way.
