I was in Aldeburgh last week and took a coffee down to near the sailing club on the Alde next to the beach. Sat drinking my coffee with the window open to watch the reeling gulls. Managed a few photos on my Panasonic TZ90, no cropping needed for the Turnstones or waggie.
This gull just stood in a great place with the waves breaking behind it for quite a while so I just banged away on the shutter.
Then a couple of Turnstones appeared just below the car.
A lovely 30 mins drinking coffee, out of the wind and cold watching the locals.

Lot to learn
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The car can make a good and comfortable hide, with the added plus of heating (or air-conditioning on a hot day).
A camera beanbag makes for a good camera rest on a car door with the window open. I've no photos of that setup, there nearest is an open window of a bird hide....
And they're not that expensive either.
