After yet another successful year on the Odds & Sods thread, initially started I think by Hazy, it might be wise to kickstart the 2023 thread off.
Thank you to those who have contributed to last years thread, and there has been very interesting odds and sods in "Odds & Sods 2022" that aren't enough to place into a dedicated thread, which you can look back on the following link:

What better for me, and as yet, I've not ventured far, ewe know what I mean, with this lassie on Baddesley Clinton estate yesterday....

Great shots Angus. It's nice when you get one just right. I got one yesterday. I was down the woods, just standing still looking around - like you do, when two Chaffinches quickly flew past me. A couple of seconds later I could hear one of them singing. When I looked it was in full view, (for a change), on a branch low down, (for a change), no more than 4 metres away. I had the correct lens on, (for a change), so I did the same as you - slowly raised the camera and managed two shots before it flew away.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.
I had a similar thing with a fox! I love the lighting, and I use manual so was extremely lucky to have the settings in the right mode when taking the shot, only managed to rattle of about 5 shots before we drove on (I was in a car)
