Odds & Sods 2023

After yet another successful year on the Odds & Sods thread, initially started I think by Hazy, it might be wise to kickstart the 2023 thread off.

Thank you to those who have contributed to last years thread, and there has been very interesting odds and sods in "Odds & Sods 2022" that aren't enough to place into a dedicated thread, which you can look back on the following link:

What better for me, and as yet, I've not ventured far, ewe know what I mean, with this lassie on Baddesley Clinton estate yesterday....

    The last time I took a photo of a hare I saw what looked like a stick in a field, then I looked through my binoculars and saw it was a couple of ears, I took some photos of it and managed half of the hares head as well as it’s ears. But you got a bonus to my experience Bob you got two for the price of one. Lol well done and well captured.

    I seem to remember that they relax and sleep in the furrows of fields, as well as hiding in woodland. I did have to look twice today as I walked up the field as I thought they were a clump of mud in the ploughed field. When they haven't got their big lovely ears stuck up they can be very elusive.

    With all the rain recently, I was feeling sorry for the hedgehogs eating the food I put out for them in the pouring rain, so I made a feeding station for them. I put it out yesterday for the first time and had a couple of visitors during the night, with the first one staying for over 50 minutes. It must like being dry with as much food and water as it can eat.

    Pleased you remembered that post Bob, I love hares, when I was young I lived near fields and two large hills and when walking down the hills on the odd occasion a hare would bolt out of the long grass and across the field. I rarely see them these days unfortunately.

    They can be rather drama queens. I do spend a lot of time in the local peaks and often have disturbed a hare and watched it for a few minutes running off hundred of yards away and still going, The local valley hares do still scarper but if you catch them early they tend to be less spooked.

    A silent flyby this morning...was on my way out and had to run back in for camera 

    I think they deliberately tried to sneak past my house lol

    Rubbish I know but was still nice to see

    Then round the back my bullies were feeding ;-)

    Wee cheeky chops waiting for some food ;-)

    That's a lovely picture Bob, and I can see how you thought there was only one hare lol If you hadn't mentioned it, then like yourself, I would have thought one hare. Nicely caught Wink

    Oh how cute! That was very nice of you to create a feeding station....I did a similar thing a couple of years ago, only I used a hog house! They seemed to love it and visited every night. In fact they got so used to it, (and the food of course), that when they came into my garden, they made a bee line straight for it...no hesitation! Well done, nice picture Blush

    Oh I love watching the geese as they fly overhead in formation. Well caught Linda....I bet they were making a lot of noise as they passed lol. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos Two hearts
