I thought I would start a new thread dedicated to our beautiful Birds of Prey and hope you will share all your fabulous pics of them aswell ......
Please feel free to add your pics
I will kick it off with one of my regulars...Jock the Sprawk
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Excellent in flight shot ILR . Nice & sharp ... . Most of my birds of prey in flight shots appear as tiny dots way up in the sky ...
Alas, no shots of bushes. Just the sky in this strange colour (blue I think) and a round yellow orb (sun, I think it is called). After the wettest since 1981, nice for my webbed feet and hands to dry out, and some decent light conditions.
This big beauty flew over our house about an hour ago. The beastie came in low. Normally they are a speck, high in the sky.
Heading for a cherry plum tree.
It started to bank before it reached an oak tree at back of neighbour's garden.
Completing its bank, it flew northward, but was now hidden by oak tree.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You're just showing off with the clear blue sky ...
More blue sky photos. Though I did pick my day well, as the next two days were cloudy and rainy.
On my way back to car, along Blackwater valley path, alongside Manor farm restoration. There are a couple or three Red Kites that patrol this area. Alas, the blighters tend to be half a mile away soaring over Finchampstead ridges - they get a really decent up draught there.
However, once in a while, one does drift down to the Blackwater river. This one was performing lazy circles as it wended its way west along the river. Annoyingly, half the time it flew over trees. I banged away with the old camera, bagging a few shots.
Whilst it was fantastic that this kite flew some 30ft directly above me, it made it a nightmare to photograph - leaning backwards, heavy camera and lens pointing upwards, trying to tracka bird flying in circles. Worth it though.
