A couple of Collared Doves this afternoon in the garden

Not so exciting I know, but I have only been getting one for quite a while, happy to see these two today

sunbathing

The collar looks to have been painted on !

That's all folk, will leave you hopefully enjoying the sunshine.

Lot to learn

  • Lovely photos Gaynor and good to see this pair in your garden, collared doves have such a delicate, pretty look and the collar just makes them look that bit more special.

  • Was good to see your Collared Doves Gaynor as have been missing the flock of up to 12 that used to come daily to my feeder, had to suspend feeding due to the growing number of rats visiting, hope to resume when weather becomes challenging!

  • Thanks Hazy and Wendy, I am only putting up one feeder now and again as I have seen a couple of the four legged creatures around the garden when the Jackdaws are shaking down the seed. Being away for a week I had hoped that they might have moved on, sadly no, so it is just in the middle of the day that I hang out the feeder, just for the sparrows to have a quick feed. Hazy I always think the Doves are more genteel than the pigeons, they don't boss around the other birds, even the Jackdaws flee from the two that come into the back garden, they seem to get quite bossy and think it is their territory:-)

    Lot to learn

  • Love a Collared Dove, Gaynor, we have a pair that come to our garden, one has had a distinctive lump on its noggin, so of course it's called "Knob Head" lol
    Thanks for sharing :o)
  • Lovely pics Gaynor...its actually something I have yet to see is a Collard Dove so thanks for sharing yours until they finally find my reserve lol

    (Pardon the Scottish Accent)

  • Nice to see your collared doves Gaynor
I am lucky to see them from time to time
In my garden and they use the bird bath
    Often too.

  • Thanks you PB, it's bad when you start naming them, says me who has had "Beaky", Titch, and possibly a few more!!
Linda I can see them just heading your way now they know the reserve is open again.
ILR it is only now and again that the larger birds have a dip in the bath, mostly sparrows here.
