Had an earlyish walk today up the road on the Reserve

I knew there was a family of Stonechat here as had seen them the other day when I was helping out tidying up the boardwalk, but no camera with me of course.

So glad to see the Mum maybe when I climbed the hill today, maybe moulting now, no sign of the youngsters

Gatekeeper, not open of course

This was more obliging

This is a small part of the Reserve

A Common or Holly Blue, thinking of opening it's wings

Wall, I saw a number of these today, first of all closed

Then it opened up beautifully

Walking on to the next field I saw

and again

This had settled alongside a gate so made it easy for me to capture

Walking back to the next gate I saw something whizzing past me, thought it was a bird at first, but then saw it streaking over to the trees, must have been a huge dragonfly, maybe an Emperor , they are around September- ish aren't they?

Lovely Small Copper

Nice Gatekeeper

and lastly another Wall

Hope you don't mind all the Butterflies, there were only the Stonechats around, (though they happen to be a favourite of mine, which I might have said before!!) I don't think I even heard another bird.

Cheers all
